Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
1. Introduction
Lovebound is operated by Big Develop Tech & Media, LLC (“Lovebound,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Lovebound is a faith-grounded relationship education app for Christian married couples. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and delete your personal information when you use the Lovebound mobile app and our website at www.loveboundapp.com, including the web getting-to-know-you conversation (together, the “Service”).
Much of what you share is deeply personal. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explains how we handle consumer health data and how to use your rights over it, and our Safety page explains how we respond to signs of a crisis, abuse or coercion.
Eden is an AI relationship guide, not a licensed therapist or medical provider. Lovebound offers education and encouragement, not therapy, counseling or medical care. In a crisis, call or text 988. If you are in danger, call 911.
Lovebound is offered only in the United States, to married adults 18 and older.
2. Information We Collect
Everything below is linked to your account and is collected only to provide the Service. None of it is collected for advertising, and none of it is used to track you.
Contact information
- Email address — used to sign in and for essential account messages.
- Name — the first name or display name you choose. Your spouse sees this name.
Identifiers
- User ID — a random identifier for you and for your couple account.
- Device push token — only if you allow notifications. This is the registration token issued through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (and Apple's Push Notification service on iPhone) so we can deliver reminders and partner-activity alerts to your device. Signing out or deleting your account removes the token. Turning off a notification type stops those notifications.
Sensitive information
Your getting-to-know-you conversation, your Desire Map and your conversations with Eden involve topics that privacy laws treat as sensitive. You cannot complete the getting-to-know-you conversation without discussing them:
- Sexual life and intimacy — desire patterns, comfort with physical intimacy, and related history, including your Desire Map: how often you hope for intimacy, what helps desire grow and what shuts it down, preferred times, boundaries, spiritual practices, and openness to new ideas.
- Religious beliefs — your faith, and how you practice it as a couple.
- Safety information — whether you have experienced coercion or violence or feel unsafe in your relationship, and whether our automated safety check flagged something you wrote (Section 8).
Health information
- Emotional wellbeing — mood, stress, emotional state and relationship patterns that you describe, and Eden's reflections on them in your Couple Profile.
- Daily pulse check-ins — your 1–5 ratings of connection, desire and stress, and any note you add, one per day.
User content
- Getting-to-know-you answers — your responses, in the app or on the web.
- Conversations with Eden — your messages with Eden, on your own and together with your spouse, guided conversations together, and exercise conversations, stored as written.
- Weekly talk transcripts — the messages in your weekly talks, on your own or together.
- Recaps — the recap Eden writes at the end of each weekly talk: what you talked about, what stood out, this week's practice, the next focus, a Scripture anchor, and encouragement.
- Couple Profile — Eden's reflections on the patterns you share as a couple and on each of you individually.
- Growth Plan — Eden's reflection on the cycle you tend to get stuck in, goals and progress, phases, your practice rhythm, a 12-week outline and Scripture anchors, including each plan refresh.
- Practice — the practice items from your weekly talks and whether, and when, you completed them.
- Desire Map — your private answers described above.
- Covenant Rhythm and this week's idea — the shared weekly rhythm and idea Eden writes from both spouses' Desire Maps, and whether Covenant Rhythm is paused.
- Daily ritual check-ins, exercise reflections, and Safety Veto records.
- Content reports you submit (Section 9).
Consent records
- When you create an account, or start the getting-to-know-you conversation on the web, we record which statements you agreed to (that you are 18 or older, the Terms and policies, your consent to our use of sensitive information and to your spouse seeing what Eden writes for the two of you, and your consent to AI processing), the version you agreed to, and when.
Account credentials
- Your password is stored only as a salted hash. We never see or store it in plain text.
Technical data
- Our hosting providers keep short-lived server logs of API requests (IP address, timestamp, endpoint, app version). We use them for security, abuse prevention and reliability, never to profile you. Our logs do not record what you write.
Website
- Launch updates: if you enter your email on our homepage or on the Start page, we store it to send you Lovebound updates. The optional first name on the Start page is used only to personalize the confirmation shown in your browser and is not sent to us. Every update email lets you unsubscribe, and you can also email us to be removed at any time.
- Web conversation draft: while you answer the getting-to-know-you questions on the web, your answers are saved in your browser's local storage so a lost connection does not erase them. The draft stays on your device. It is cleared when you finish, when you tap “Clear my saved answers,” or when the invite turns out to be invalid or expired. A draft older than 24 hours is ignored and deleted the next time the page is opened. On a shared device, finish in one sitting or clear this site's data afterward.
- Fonts: our website serves its fonts from our own domain, so visiting it does not contact Google Fonts.
What we do not collect
- No precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or browsing history.
- No advertising identifier, and no advertising or attribution SDK.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDK. The app contains no third-party tracking code.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites, and no tracking cookies on our website.
- Do Not Track: because we do not track you across other companies' websites or apps, we treat every visitor the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and secure your account and sign you in
- Record the consents you give
- Run your getting-to-know-you conversation and generate Eden's responses
- Write your Couple Profile, your Growth Plan and your 52-week Covenant Roadmap, and refresh the plan with you every four weekly talks
- Run weekly talks with Eden, write the recap, and create and track practice
- Record your daily pulse, show you your own trend, and show each of you whether the other has checked in today
- Write your Covenant Rhythm and this week's idea from both spouses' Desire Maps, with instructions that neither spouse's private answers be quoted or revealed
- Give Eden context in your conversations: your Growth Plan, your recent recaps, your own pulse trend (never your spouse's), the current rhythm and idea, and pending practice
- Deliver guided conversations together, shared exercises, daily rituals and partner-activity updates between you and your spouse
- Check what you write for signs of a crisis, abuse or coercion, show help, and pause shared intimacy features when needed (Section 8)
- Send push notifications you have opted into
- Review content reports and keep the Service safe
- Protect the Service against abuse, fraud and misuse
- Respond when you contact support
We do not sell or rent your data, use it for advertising or marketing profiling, share it for third-party marketing, or use it to train AI models, including large language models. Under OpenAI's API terms, content sent to OpenAI is not used to train its models either.
4. Service Providers Who Process Your Data
We rely on a small set of providers to run the Service. Each processes your data on our behalf under that provider's published business or API terms:
- OpenAI (AI responses) — receives your messages, context from your getting-to-know-you conversation, your Growth Plan and recent recaps, a summary of your own pulse trend, and relevant conversation history, to write Eden's replies, your Couple Profile, your Growth Plan, your recaps and your roadmap. To write the Covenant Rhythm and this week's idea, it also receives both spouses' Desire Map answers. It also receives what you write in the places listed in Section 8, including pulse notes, Safety Veto reasons and content reports, to check for safety concerns. Subject to OpenAI's API data-retention policy (typically up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted); not used to train OpenAI's models.
- Pinecone (knowledge retrieval) — hosts the reference library Eden draws on, and processes a numeric representation of your message to find relevant material.
- Supabase (database and realtime) — stores your account and content, encrypted at rest, and relays messages between spouses during weekly talks together, guided conversations together and shared exercises.
- Render (API hosting) — runs our backend servers.
- Vercel (website hosting) — serves www.loveboundapp.com, including the web getting-to-know-you conversation and the launch-updates form.
- Google Firebase (push notifications) — Firebase Cloud Messaging receives your device push token and the content of each notification in order to deliver it; on iPhone, Apple's Push Notification service delivers the final message.
- Google Fonts (app typefaces) — the app downloads its typefaces from Google Fonts when they are first needed, so Google receives your device's IP address and a standard request for the font files. No account information or content is sent.
5. Disclosures Required by Law and Business Transfers
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, for example to comply with a valid subpoena, court order or other legal process, or, in response to an emergency request from law enforcement, when needed to protect someone from imminent serious harm. Your conversations with Eden are not protected by therapist–patient, physician–patient or clergy privilege. Unless the law prohibits it or there is an emergency, we will try to notify you before disclosing your information in response to legal process so you can object.
If Lovebound is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred under this policy, and we will notify you before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Sharing Between Spouses
Lovebound is built on a simple rule: your own words stay yours, and what Eden writes for the two of you, drawn from both of you, is shared.
Private to you — never shown to your spouse
- Your getting-to-know-you answers.
- Your Desire Map. Your spouse sees only whether you have filled it in. The Covenant Rhythm Eden writes from both maps is written with instructions never to quote or reveal your answers.
- Your daily pulse: connection, desire, stress and note. Your spouse sees only whether you checked in today.
- Weekly talks you have on your own, including their transcripts, recaps and practice.
- Your own conversations with Eden, unless you invite your spouse into one and choose to share its history. If our safety check ever flagged something in that conversation, its history stays private even if you choose to share it.
- Eden's reflections about you individually in your Couple Profile.
- Which roadmap activities you vetoed and why (Section 7), your content reports (Section 9), and anything our safety check flagged (Section 8).
Shared by design — visible to both spouses
- Your display name.
- The picture of you as a couple in your Couple Profile, and your Growth Plan.
- The Covenant Rhythm and this week's idea, and whether Covenant Rhythm or other shared features are paused, never who paused them or why (Section 8).
- Whether each of you has checked in today, and whether each of you has filled in a Desire Map.
- Weekly talks you have together, including their transcripts and recaps, and practice from them. Completion of that practice is visible to both of you.
- Conversations with Eden that you join together, guided conversations together and shared exercises, including the messages each of you sends in them.
- The history of one of your own conversations with Eden, if you invite your spouse into it and choose to share that history.
- The shared roadmap. When either of you vetoes an activity, it is removed without saying who vetoed it.
7. Safety Veto
Either spouse can remove any exercise or activity from the shared roadmap with a Safety Veto. When a veto is used:
- No explanation is ever required. Any reason you give is encrypted and never shared with your spouse.
- Your spouse sees only that the roadmap changed, not who vetoed the activity.
- Replacement activities are generated automatically.
8. Safety and Crisis Support
We run an automated safety check on what you write to Eden in the app, including every turn of a weekly talk; on your answers in the web getting-to-know-you conversation; on the written parts of your Desire Map and your pulse notes; on any reason you give for a Safety Veto; and on content reports. When it finds signs that you may be in danger, thinking about harming yourself, or facing abuse or coercion, you see crisis resources (in the US: call or text 988, text HOME to 741741, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or text START to 88788, call RAINN at 1-800-656-4673, or call 911 for immediate danger).
- Help is shown only to you. Your spouse is never told why.
- A conversation you are having with your spouse ends for both of you, and your message is not added to it.
- If what you wrote suggests abuse, sexual coercion or assault, or controlling behavior, shared intimacy features pause for your couple account. We record that a pause is in place with an internal category label, never your words, and neither of you can see the label.
- A safety pause is never lifted automatically, and neither of you can lift it in the app. Our support team lifts it only when the spouse who shared the concern asks, and only after confirming the request from that spouse's account email (write to info@bigdevelop.com). A request from the other spouse does not lift it.
- Either of you can also pause shared features privately at any time, with no reason needed. We record which of you set that pause so that only you can resume it, and your spouse is never told who set it.
- Every pause looks the same to the other spouse: “This shared feature is paused for now. Eden is still here for one-on-one conversations.” It never says who paused shared features or why.
- On the conversation itself we record only the level of concern, which spouse wrote the message, and when. We also keep an anonymous daily count of how often help was shown, with no names, accounts or words.
- Part of the check runs on our own servers, and what you write is also sent to OpenAI, our AI provider, to check for safety concerns (Section 4). We do not automatically contact anyone on your behalf.
Automated screening can miss things, and Lovebound is not an emergency service. Read more on our Safety page.
9. Content Reports
You can report harmful AI output, harassment, a safety concern, or another problem from the Report option in the app. A report includes the category you choose, where in the app it happened, your message, and your account identifier. We use reports only to review the issue, improve Eden, and enforce our Terms. Reports are never shown to your spouse and are deleted when you delete your account.
10. Data Retention
- Active accounts: your data is kept while your account exists.
- Account deletion: when you delete your account (Section 12), your data is removed from our live database immediately and from routine encrypted backups within 30 days.
- Consent records: kept while your account exists, and deleted with it.
- Sign-in codes and invite links: the single-use sign-in link shown after web registration expires within minutes; spouse invite links expire after 7 days or once used.
- Web conversation draft: kept only in your browser; see Section 2 for when it is cleared.
- Push tokens: deleted when you sign out or delete your account.
- AI provider copies: governed by OpenAI's API retention policy (Section 4).
- Server logs: kept briefly by our hosting providers for security and reliability, then discarded.
- Content reports: kept as long as needed to review the report and keep the Service safe, and deleted when you delete your account.
- Anonymous safety counts: daily totals with no personal information, kept for reporting.
- Website launch list: kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
11. Data Export
You can export your data at any time from the app: Settings → Export My Data. The app generates a JSON file and opens the share sheet so you can save or share it. Export happens on your device; we do not email exports. The file contains:
- your couple account details and your consent records;
- your getting-to-know-you answers;
- your daily pulse check-ins, with your notes;
- your Desire Map;
- your conversations with Eden, on your own and together, as you see them in the app;
- your own weekly talks with Eden, with their recaps and practice;
- the weekly talks you had together: your messages and Eden's;
- your Couple Profile: the picture of you as a couple and Eden's reflections about you;
- your Growth Plan, your Covenant Rhythms and the shared roadmap;
- your vetoes and your own exercise reflections.
It never contains your spouse's private answers or Eden's reflections about them. To receive a copy of anything that is not in the file, email info@bigdevelop.com and we will send everything we hold about you within 45 days.
12. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the app: Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is per spouse:
- Deleted: your sign-in credentials, your getting-to-know-you answers, your own conversations with Eden, the weekly talks you had on your own with their transcripts, recaps and practice, your daily pulse check-ins, your Desire Map, Eden's reflections about you individually, your vetoes and exercise reflections, your content reports, your consent records, your push tokens and notification preferences, and any pending sign-in codes or invite links.
- Kept for your spouse: your spouse's account and their private data; the messages you sent in conversations you had with your spouse (weekly talks together, joined conversations with Eden, guided conversations together and shared exercises); and the shared results Eden wrote partly from your answers: the picture of you as a couple in your Couple Profile, the Growth Plan, the Covenant Rhythm and the roadmap. To ask us to delete these too, email info@bigdevelop.com. We will respond within 45 days (see the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy).
- Last spouse: if you are the only registered spouse, or your spouse has already deleted their account, the entire couple record, including all shared data, is deleted.
Deletion cannot be undone. If you can no longer access the app, email info@bigdevelop.com from your account email and we will verify your identity and delete your account for you.
13. Security Measures
We protect your data with:
- TLS encryption for all data in transit
- Encryption at rest for everything we store, provided by our database provider
- An additional layer of application-level encryption (AES-256-GCM) before storage for your Desire Map, your daily pulse notes, the transcripts of your weekly talks, and Safety Veto reasons
- Your conversations with Eden, guided conversations together, exercise conversations, your getting-to-know-you answers, recaps, your Couple Profile, your Growth Plan and your Covenant Rhythm are protected by the database encryption and the access controls below, but not by that additional layer
- Securely hashed authentication credentials
- Row-level security policies and role-based access controls
- Every request for your plan, talks, pulse and rhythm is authenticated and scoped to your couple account and your role in it
- Authenticated, access-controlled realtime channels for conversations together
- Rate limiting and abuse detection on our API
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data with industry-standard safeguards and to limit access to the minimum needed to operate the Service.
14. Adults Only
Lovebound is only for married adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.
15. Your Rights
You can, at any time:
- Access and export your data — Settings → Export My Data, or email us for everything we hold (Section 11)
- Correct your email or name — in Settings, or by contacting us
- Update or withdraw your Desire Map — in the app, at any time
- Delete your account and data — Settings → Delete Account
- Report harmful or unsafe content — the Report option in the app
- Control notifications — in Settings, or in your device settings
- Withdraw consent — by emailing us or deleting your account. Lovebound cannot work without the information you consented to, so withdrawing consent means we stop using it and delete your account data.
Depending on the U.S. state where you live, you may also have rights to confirm what we process, to object to or restrict processing, and to appeal a decision we make about your request. To use any right, email info@bigdevelop.com. We respond within 45 days, and the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explains how to appeal. We will never treat you differently for using your rights.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will tell you about material changes in the app and on our website and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
If a change would let us collect, use or share your health or other sensitive information in a new way, we will ask for your consent in the app first. We will not apply a material change to information we collected before the change without your consent.
